As reported by Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen wants Stade Reims goalkeeper Patrick Pentz as their new number two.
B04 are keen on bringing in the four-time Austrian international as current number two, Andrey Lunev is injured. What’s more, the Russian’s contract expires this summer with no renewal in sight.
Before Leverkusen’s interest, the 26-year-old was about to sign for Major League Soccer side, Colorado Rapids. Pentz has only been in France for six months after transferring for free from Rapid Wein. However, having only made a handful of appearances, Pentz was replaced by 23-year-old Yehvann Diouf as number one. Since then, the Austrian hasn’t had much of a look in and is keen on a move away.
As per the report, Leverkusen are ready to offer Pentz a two-and-a-half-year contract and talks are already well advanced. A transfer to Leverkusen rather than Colorado is much more appealing to Pentz and it seems that the Bundesliga club have stolen the goalkeeper from the American club.
