Nico Schlotterbeck has admitted he could have earned more money at other clubs than Borussia Dortmund.

After months of speculation about his future, Nico Schlotterbeck ultimately opted to sign for Borussia Dortmund last month, penning a contract until 2027.

Speaking to Sport Bild after playing 90 minutes in Germany’s 1-1 UEFA Nations League draw with England last night, the 22-year-old revealed the he turned down more lucrative offers to sign for ‘Die Schwarzgelben’.

“There were many inquiries, but I made a conscious decision to join Dortmund,” Schlotterbeck said and continued:

“I could have earned more money at other clubs. But I’m only 22 years old, so money isn’t the most important thing for me.

“I’m attracted to Borussia Dortmund: I want to continue writing the club’s history and win trophies.”
