Real Madrid are close to activating Fran García’s €10m buy option, report The Athletic.
Madrid will pay €5m for the 23-year-old as they hold a 50 per cent sell-on clause on the player, who joined Rayo Vallecano from Los Blancos in the summer of 2021.
The left-back will likely remain on loan at Rayo until the end of the current season.
Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti wants García but Madrid’s board have the final say on the move for the exciting full-back, who has been one of Rayo’s best players in the last couple of seasons.
Rayo have told The Athletic they have not yet been informed of García’s clause being activated.
In recent weeks, Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen wanted to sign him in the January transfer window and were willing to pay his clause of €10m.
An offer from Inter also arrived, according to AS, however, after a meeting between the management and coaches at Madrid, they decided that it was time to bring him back to the Santiago Bernabéu.
