Aston Villa are “working on” bringing another forward alongside Arnaut Danjuma to Villa Park, transfer insider Dean Jones revealed to GIVEMESPORT.
Danjuma has been linked with a switch to Villa, but Jones hinted there could be more than one forward arriving at the club this month.
Aston Villa transfer news
In a recent interview with GMS, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed Villa were eyeing up a January move for ex-Bournemouth man Danjuma.
It came on the back of a report in The Athletic, that claimed Danjuma had flown to England with his representatives in an attempt to secure a Premier League return.
Unsurprisingly, plenty of Premier League sides are keen on the 25-year-old, with the likes of Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Bournemouth, who Danjuma left to join Villarreal in August 2021, all interested.
Reiterating Villa’s interest, Jones told GMS this month that he believes Villa are well-placed to land Danjuma, indicating he’s unlikely to join a relegation candidate over the mid-table outfit.
What’s more, Danjuma’s close links to Villa boss Unai Emery are also another positive, with the forward having played a key role in Villarreal’s run to the Champions League semi-final last season.
However, despite their keen interest in Danjuma, whose price tag is rumoured to be in the region of £35 million, there are new suggestions Villa could welcome a striker to the club this month as well.
What has Jones said about Villa’s transfer business?
In an interview with GMS, Jones outlines Villa’s plan for the remainder of the window, indicating they’re likely to target forwards.
“I’m hearing that Villa have been working on the prospect of signing another forward,” Jones told GMS earlier today.
“While it seems likely that could be Danjuma, given the interest, I’m told they are also looking at a couple of exciting goalscorers in Europe too.”
Which strikers might Villa bring into the club this month?
Journalist Ryan Taylor told GMS earlier in the transfer window that Villa had been eyeing up a shock move for Marcus Thuram.
Labelling the Borussia Mönchengladbach man as a “perfect fit”, Taylor revealed Villa were interested in the forward, amid links to big-spenders Chelsea.
However, it’s unlikely, should Chelsea’s interest emerge as genuine, Villa will beat the west Londoners to Thuram’s signature, meaning they may be forced to look elsewhere.
What’s more, should Villa bring a striker into the club this month, it could trigger a chain reaction of transfers throughout the Premier League.
Striker Danny Ings looks set to leave the club for West Ham, indicating more deals could be around the corner for the West Midlands outfit.
