Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann is still undecided on his starting line-up for Friday’s Bundesliga top-of-the-table clash with RB Leipzig.
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has put himself in a good position to start after finishing off 2022 in excellent style, and Nagelsmann indicated that the veteran striker will start once more against Leipzig.
“I’ve decided on six of the 11 positions, but I won’t say if he’s in. I still need a bit more time to think about the rest of the positions. The 11-v-11 in training today was very good and didn’t make the decision any easier,” said Nagelsmann and added:
“I’ve already said that Choupo had a very good run, and I don’t see any reason not to let him start when he’s healthy.”
At the press conference, Nagelsmann was also asked about Bayern’s ongoing negotiations with Gladbach about Yann Sommer, who could arrive as a replacement for the long-term injured Manuel Neuer.
“It’s not always just two parties that need to be satisfied. We want a decision, whatever in which direction. We want to have a certain calm when it comes to this position,” said Nagelsmann.
Asked if he has talked to Sommer himself, Nagelsmann responded:
“I didn’t have any contact with him, no.”
