Napoli closing in on loan move for Fiorentina goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini

Napoli have reached an agreement to sign Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini – currently on loan at Fiorentina – on loan with an option to buy, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.

It will be a swap deal, with Salvatore Sirigu heading to La Viola.

Gollini’s progress has been stagnant over the last two seasons following unsuccessful spells with Tottenham Hotspur and Fiorentina.

After creating a huge impression at Atalanta, the Italian shot-stopper moved to North London last year, where he would fail to dethrone Hugo Lloris as Spurs’ No.1

Gollini was loaned to Fiorentina last summer but has struggled for game time this season, making only three appearances in Serie A.

The former Spurs loanee is expected to serve as deputy to first-choice Alex Meret, who has been impressive for the Partenopei in the title charge this season.

Meanwhile, Sirigu will likely be an understudy to Pietro Terracciano at Artemio Franchi Stadium.

Gollini will look to revive his career with a move to Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, but it remains to be seen whether he can beat Meret for a regular spot.

Napoli also have Angers midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, who received widespread recognition following his World Cup heroics with Morocco, on their radar.

However, they face tough competition from plenty of top clubs for his signature.

Leeds United are said to be leading the race, with Leicester City having had a bid turned down by Angers for Ounahi.

Nonetheless, Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli remains optimistic about winning the race for Ounahi.

The Partenopei suffered a shock defeat against Cremonese in the Coppa Italia round of 16 clash via penalties.
