VfL Bochum introduced former Mainzer Pierre Kunde Malong as a new loan signing on Friday afternoon.

Pierre Kunde Malong will be returning to German football on a loan basis for the duration of the season. VfL Bochum unveiled the 27-year-old central midfielder on Friday afternoon. In addition to German footballing magazine Kicker, the “Westdeutscher Allgemeine Zeitung” now also confirms that Bochum have a mandatory purchase option in the deal should they manage to avoid relegation.
“Pierre Kunde Malong is an asset to our team due to his technical and tactical skills as well as his dynamism and strength,” VfL sporting director Patrick Fabian noted in a statement accompanying the signing, “In addition to his international experience, his knowledge of the Bundesliga and his experience with Mainz in a relegation fight are further advantages that speak for him.”
The recent World Cup participant brings with him the experience of 70 competitive matches with FSV Mainz 05. He netted four tallies and registered one assist in his three seasons with the Rheinhessen. Mainz sold Malong to Olympiacos Piraeus for a reported €1.8 million in the summer of 2021.
