Manchester United are ‘confident’ of tying young winger Alejandro Garnacho down to a new contract at Old Trafford, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has told GiveMeSport.
The 18-year-old is enjoying a breakout campaign under the tutelage of manager Erik ten Hag and appears to be in line for a bumper new deal thanks to his impressive exploits.
Manchester United news – Alejandro Garnacho
Garnacho’s current £1,500-per-week contract is due to expire next summer, sparking speculation over his long-term future at the club.
Romano stated back in June that United were working on presenting fresh terms to the Argentina Under-20 international and that the plan was to offer him a five-year deal.
However, Spanish outlet Relevo have claimed that Real Madrid are interested in bringing Garnacho back to the city of his birth just 18 months after he departed his boyhood club Atletico Madrid.

And reliable reporter Simon Phillips has stated that Chelsea have already seen an approach for the teenager turned down by his representatives.
The Red Devils will surely be eager to do everything in their power to retain the services of Garnacho, though, given the impact he has made in the opening stages of the season.
What has Romano said about Garnacho?
United are currently focussing on securing the futures of their first-team squad, triggering several one-year options for the likes of Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw.

And Romano has told GMS that ‘there are conversations ongoing’ as the 20-time English champions aim to convince Garnacho to put pen to paper on fresh terms.
He said: “From what I’m told, the player is focusing on Man United, he’s happy there and the club are wanting to have an important contract. So, there are conversations ongoing but Man United are confident.”
How well has Garnacho been playing?
Bruno Fernandes revealed that Garnacho had to wait for his chances this season due to a poor attitude during pre-season.
“He (Garnacho) was good, but he knows we expect a lot from him,” Fernandes told BT Sport after the win over Real Sociedad.
“In the (pre-season) tour, he didn’t have the best attitude. That’s why he didn’t get chances. Now he’s getting his chances because he’s training better, (he has a) different attitude, and he deserves it.”
Garnacho has registered two goals and two assists in nine appearances in 2022/23, and it seems he is destined for a fantastic career if he can remain focused and professional.
