BVB up Moukoko’s salary offer to €6 million annually

Germany’s main sporting tabloid now reports that the Borussia Dortmund front office has upped its annual salary offer to €6 million in ongoing contract negotiations with Youssoufa Moukoko.

“I would really like to stay in Dortmund”

At last check, Youssoufa Moukoko’s agent denied reports that his teenage client had been offered an annual salary in the €5-6 million range during the club’s efforts to extend the 18-year-old’s expiring contract. According to Germany’s “Sport Bild” tabloid, the BVB front office has now tendered such an offer. The tabloid claims this constitutes what Germans refer to as a “threshold” offer. There may not be another one made.
The report goes on to suggest that Moukoko’s camp still wants something in the €7 million range with better performance bonuses built in. Dortmund’s proposal will triple the young phenom’s current salary, but may ultimately be unable to compete with the coming offers from EPL giants and other international clubs with heavy financial backing.

Unless something unexpected occurs, it remains highly unlikely that Moukoko’s agent Patrick Williams will allow his client to accept the coming bid; at the very least not until the player himself can directly negotiate with other clubs after the turn of the calendar year. Signs continue to point to a departure after the youngster’s current deal expires at the end of the season.
