Barcelona are almost exclusively pursuing players that are out of contract this season and the latest talent on their radar has been attracting significant attention of late.
Standard Liege’s Nicolas Raskin had been an out-and-out starter in his home country of Belgium until he was dropped by manager Ronny Deila, as Raskin looks to see out his deal.
The 21-year-old has been attracting attention from Marseille, Fiorentina, Rangers and Leeds United, report MD, who got their information from Voetbal Nieuws.
More recently, they say that Barcelona are also watching Raskin, although Belgian rivals Club Brugge are best-placed to sign him.
Raskin stands out for his range of passing, positioning, and one-on-one defensive ability. He ranks third in the Jupiler Pro League for tackles won this season.
Part of the under-21 side already, Raskin is likely to make the jump to the Belgium senior side soon. On the face of it, his attributes would make him most likely a long-term option to replace Sergio Busquets, for whom Barcelona are actively seeking a successor.
