Wolverhampton Wanderers are finalising a deal with Atlético Madrid over the transfer of Matheus Cunha, report AS.
Despite a promising start to his career at the Estadio Metropolitano, the 23-year-old has been struggling to get into Diego Simeone’s starting XI these past couple of months.
Having been knocked out of all European competitions for this season, Los Colchoneros are planning to offload some of their players who have failed to make an impression.
Wolves have been linked with Cunha for the last couple of weeks and it appears as though that the Premier League side have agreed a deal with Atlético Madrid regarding the transfer of the Brazilian forward.
It is believed that Cunha will join Wolves initially on loan, with the deal including a mandatory purchase clause worth around €45m.
The former Hertha Berlin player failed to register a single goal in the 17 appearances he made for Atlético Madrid this season and he has not played in the club’s recent friendlies.
