As reported by Bild, Marcus Thuram can leave Borussia Mönchengladbach in the winter for as little as €12m. Inter Milan remain the favourites to sign the French striker in the winter, but Bayern Munich are still interested in signing the 25-year-old on a free transfer in the summer.
Thuram’s contract expires at the end of the season which means he has an option to reach an agreement to join a club in the winter. Speaking on the Thuram situation, Gladbach Sporting Director Roland Virkus said: “We are prepared for everything, have an if-then scenario and can react at any time. Of course we already scouted, that’s quite normal in this business.”
Gladbach already have a replacement for Thuram lined up in Croatian striker Dion Beljo of NK Osijek. The 20-year-old is valued at €6.5m. However, Virkus is aware that if the Thuram situation continues to drag on Beljo may become inpatient and move elsewhere.
Thuram has 10 goals in 15 games for Gladbach in the Bundesliga, form which earned him a call up to the French national team for the World Cup where he has made himself key for France off of the bench.
