Liverpool could pull off an ‘unbelievable’ signing by luring Benfica star Enzo Fernandez to Anfield, Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has told GiveMeSport.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will be handed the opportunity to bolster his squad when the transfer window reopens next month.

Liverpool transfer news – Enzo Fernandez
According to Argentinian media outlet La Capital, Liverpool already have a pre-agreement in place which will see Fernandez join from Benfica next summer.
The report suggests the Reds have accelerated their plans to lure the midfielder to Merseyside due to his World Cup performances and additional interest coming from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Manchester City.
Liverpool have also been facing competition from La Liga giants Real Madrid, who are assessing their options ahead of the winter window.
Fernandez has a £102million release clause written into his Benfica contract and meeting that figure would result in Klopp’s charges smashing their transfer record.
However, journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Liverpool will not have the funds to sign Borussia Dortmund talisman Jude Bellingham if they land Fernandez for such a lucrative fee.

What has Ryan Taylor said about Fernandez?
Taylor believes that Liverpool should not hesitate in rubber-stamping a deal for Fernandez as he is a long-term target.
The journalist also feels that Darwin Nunez’s impact in the red half of Merseyside shows that Benfica could be a happy hunting ground.
When asked whether Fernandez would be a coup signing for the Reds, Taylor told GiveMeSport: “Unbelievable. I believe Liverpool actually looked at getting him from River Plate last summer.
“I know it was between Wolves and Benfica for his signature and one of the Wolves directors actually flew out to Argentina to try and negotiate that, but he chose Benfica.
“Obviously, you only have to look at Darwin Nunez to see that Benfica are not only brilliant at getting the right South American talent, but they make huge money as well.”
How has Fernandez performed at the World Cup?
Fernandez is preparing for the World Cup final, where he and Argentina are preparing to go to battle with France.
It has been a memorable tournament for the 21-year-old, who scored during the group stage win over Mexico and went on to grab an assist in a victory against Poland en route to notching six appearances so far.
Sofascore statistics emphasise that Fernandez has also been playing a key role at the other end of the pitch, having averaged two tackles, one clearance and 0.5 interceptions per outing.
The South American has even been described as ‘spectacular’ by teammate Lionel Messi during his time in Qatar, which underlines the fact that he has a bright future ahead of him.
