Zlatko Dalić is hopeful that Luka Modrić will continue representing Croatia beyond the World Cup, report Mundo Deportivo.
In his pre-match press conference prior to Croatia’s match against Morocco for third place, Dalić was asked about the possibility of the 37-year-old continuing to captain the national team and lead them in Euro 2024:
“I hope he’ll be there. He is pretty sure he will be there, but he will have to decide personally, depending on how he feels. I personally think he will be there but in the end it’s his decision.”
Despite his age, Modrić continues to be a fundamental piece in the Croatia starting XI and has played a key role in helping the side reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.
The midfielder will return to Madrid after a few days’ holiday following the World Cup and he is expected to begin contract renewal discussions with Los Blancos’ board.
