Representatives from Athletic Club and Chivas de Guadalajara attended an event in Guernika prior to a friendly match between the two sides, which the Basque outfit eventually won 2-0.
In an interview that also appeared on Marca, Iker Muniain discussed playing at San Mamés:
“Playing in a stadium like San Mamés I think is special for any player in the world.”
The 29-year-old also discussed the spirit around the club:
“There is a good connection between the fans and the team. People miss football when there is a break, they miss Athletic. Everyone wants the competition to restart again to go and watch their team.”
Chivas’ Jesús Sánchez was full of praise for Athletic Club:
“I am proud to be able to be here and compete against such a big and historic club in Spanish football. They are clubs that trust their local players and this makes them much bigger.”
