Manchester United would not be a safe move for Paris Saint-Germain and France star Kylian Mbappe, according to journalist Dean Jones.
The forward is said to be a target for the Red Devils as they look to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, but Jones has his doubts about a transfer.
Man United transfer news – Kylian Mbappe
Last month, the Daily Mirror claimed that Mbappe has become a target for United.
In terms of how much he could cost, the same outlet reported that the Red Devils could be looking at a fee of around £150m.
That could potentially be a problem for United, with Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth recently telling GIVEMESPORT that the Manchester club might not actually have the funds for Mbappe after going over their budget during the summer.
Manager Erik ten Hag was extremely active during his first transfer window at Old Trafford, bringing in the likes of Antony and Casemiro for huge money.

What has Dean Jones said about Kylian Mbappe and Man United?
While Jones believes United are undoubtedly a big club, he is not sure if Mbappe feels the same way and remains unconvinced about a potential switch to the Theatre of Dreams.
Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: “Man United are a big club, in our eyes, in England. But is that the same for the best player emerging in the world who’s a French international who has no connection to the Premier League?
“It’s probably not and this is someone, too, that wants the biggest trophies in the game. He wants to win a Ballon d’Or. I’m not sure that United is a safe enough move for him at the moment.”
How has Kylian Mbappe performed at the World Cup?
Mbappe is one of the most dangerous forwards in world football and has shown that in Qatar.
As per Transfermarkt, the PSG man has scored an impressive five goals in five games for France. He has also racked up a couple of assists, so it is fair to say that he has been very productive at this year’s World Cup.
The above will come as a surprise to no one. Mbappe has been a consistent goalscorer for quite a while now.
Despite still being just 23, the France star has registered over 200 times in his club career (also per Transfermarkt). It is no surprise, then, that he has been described as “phenomenal” by sports writer Andy West.
It is going to be difficult, but if United can land Mbappe, he would be the perfect replacement for Ronaldo.
