Arsenal prioritise Mykhaylo Mudryk transfer in January

Arsenal’s main priority going into the January transfer market is Ukrainian winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, according to The Athletic.

Mudryk is reportedly a top target for when the winter window opens in three weeks. The 21-year-old left-winger has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time now. Sources believe there is a good chance it will happen, but nothing has been agreed upon yet.

Shakhtar Donetsk want €100 million (£85.9m, $105.3m) for Mudryk. However, prospective buyers are uninterested in paying such a high fee for the coveted winger.

Also, despite their high demands, buyers believe the Ukrainian club will accept a lower fee for their star man.

Brentford agreed to a £25 million deal to sign Mudryk last summer with Arsenal keen, but the deal did not go through. The player’s stock may have risen due to his Champions League performances, but not by £60.9 million.

Arsenal have been in contact with Mudryk’s representatives for some time now. The player is also keen on a move to the Premier League and wants to play at the Emirates Stadium.

He has talked about his admiration for the Premier League club and claimed he keeps track of their results.

Arsenal have alternative options if they cannot pull this deal off, but Mudryk is their priority target.

Mudryk lit up the Champions League group stage this season with mesmerising performances. He scored three goals and assisted two in six games.

He has bagged seven goals and six assists in 12 appearances in the Ukrainian Premier League. Now that he plays a more prominent role in his side, he has become more prolific. His superb dribbling ability has always been on show, but he has added end product to his game.

Mudryk had interest from Bayer Leverkusen and OGC Nice last summer, and his suitors will have only increased.

Arsenal will want to secure him this January to avoid a bidding war next summer.
