Aston Villa have entered the race to sign Atlético Madrid forward João Félix, as reported by Marca.
The player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is confident that the Portugal international will end up playing in the Premier League.
Manchester United and Chelsea have had Félix on their radar for some time as well as Bayern Munich and PSG, although some sources suggest that it will be Villa who will end up taking the talented player.
Atlético CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín is reportedly in talks with Villa over the transfer of the player. Gil Marín admitted to TVE that Félix is likely to leave the Wanda Metropolitano.
“I think he is at the top level in the world but because of his relationship with the coach [Diego Simeone], the minutes he has played, his motivation… the reasonable thing to do is to look at the option of leaving. It’s reasonable to think that he will leave, although I would love him to stay, but that is not the player’s plan,” Gil Marín said.
It remains to be seen how talks will evolve and if the player himself agrees to leave for Unai Emery’s side.
