In a recent report, Calciomercato mentioned that Arsenal are facing stiff competition for Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata. It is believed that the Gunners will have to rival Barcelona, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich in pursuit of the Spanish marksman this summer.

Morata’s Impressive Form In Italian Football

Morata had a decent loan spell at Juventus last season when he produced a lot of productive displays as the spearhead of their attack. The 29-year-old has featured in 48 matches for the Italian outfit in the previous campaign, netting 12 goals and securing nine assists in multiple competitions.

The Spain international has led the line well based on his average of 1.7 shots, 1.3 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even distributed the ball well in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 75.7% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).

What Will Morata Add To Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta’s Side?

Morata can be a streaky goal-getter in the final third and can even chip in by bagging his fair share of assists up top. He can hold the ball up relatively well for his teammates in the opposition half but needs to find a way to be more consistent in front of goal.

The Spaniard is currently playing at his peak and would add more firepower to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s attack. He is primarily a centre-forward but can even fill in as a left-sided wide player if required.

Morata has already got enough experience under his belt from his previous spell with Chelsea, so he won’t need much time to settle into life in Premier League football if the Gunners manage to get him on board in this off-season.
