As reported by Kicker, VfB Stuttgart plan to make a decision on extending the contract of Sven Mislintat this week, according to their chairman, Alexander Wehrle. Mislintat’s contract expires at the end of the season and has been sporting director at VfB since 2019.
Wehrle spoke on the matter, saying: “We have to make a decision in a timely manner – and that’s where the meeting of the Supervisory Board is appropriate.” The Supervisory board meeting is set to take place this Thursday.
There are replacements in line for Mislintat if he does not sign a new contract, those are Greuther Fürth’s Rachid Azzouzi and Hannover’s Marcus Mann.
Once the sporting director situation has been sorted, VfB can decide on who their next coach will be, with it still being unclear if Michael Wimmer will be in charge when the players return on the December 12.
Stuttgart currently find themselves in 16th and on 14 points having experienced a mix bag of results before the winter break. VfB will travel to Marbella for a winter training camp when the players return to training.
