Julian Weigl has reiterated his desire to stay at Borussia Mönchengladbach beyond the end of his loan spell.
“I’m someone who basically craves continuity and who doesn’t want to play for one club one year and another the year after. So I made a conscious decision to make this switch,” the 27-year-old Benfica loanee said in an interview with Gladbach’s members’ magazine ‘FohlenEcho – Das Magazin’ and elaborated:
“I quickly thought to myself that I feel comfortable here and could of course also imagine staying longer. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here now. What happens beyond that, we’ll see, and that’s not something I decide on my own.”
Weigl joined Gladbach from Benfica ahead of this season on a loan deal which includes an option to buy for €15 million.
