Sébastien Haller has successfully undergone a second operation for his treatment of testicular cancer.
On Thursday evening, Haller posted on social media: “Another step in validation. Surgery number 2 went well! Many thanks to the medical team for the help everyday. Can’t wait to start the rest.” His previous operation was in July.
Before this operation, Haller had previously completed his first training session whilst undergoing chemotherapy. The illness was first discovered in Borussia Dortmund’s training camp in July. The Ivorian is yet to make his debut for Dortmund. When Haller returns is still unknown.
To boost their striking options, Dortmund signed Anthony Modeste from FC Köln as an emergency replacement for Haller but the Frenchman has not been as impactful as first thought. In the 13 matches Modeste has played for Dortmund, he has only scored two goals and provided one assist with his place eventually being taken by Youssoufa Moukoko. The 18-year-old’s form has seen him score six goals and record three assists from 14 games, earning a call-up to the German national team for the World Cup.
