‘Sensational’ £35m star now ‘going to wait’ to decide future

Arsenal target Youri Tielemans is likely to wait until he becomes a free agent before deciding what club to join, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The Leicester City midfielder is out of contract next summer and has been linked with a January move to the Emirates, but Brown expects him to let his existing deal expire.

What is the latest news involving Tielemans?

Reports suggest that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen his midfield in the winter transfer window.

According to 90min, the north London club are ready to make moves for both Tielemans and Palmeiras’ Danilo.

Arsenal strengthening their squad in January is a no-brainer, with the Gunners chasing their first Premier League title in 19 years.

Towards the end of May, The Telegraph claimed that Arteta was pushing his superiors to go after Tielemans ahead of the 2022/23 season, so the Belgian seems to be a player he really wants.

What has Brown said about Tielemans?

Brown thinks Arsenal may have to wait until the end of the campaign to sign Tielemans and is expecting the Gunners to face a lot of competition for his signature.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “I’m sure he’s caught a lot of people’s eye but, it seems from what we’re told, Tielemans is going to wait until he hits the open market as a free agent, which a lot of players do like to do these days. His contract is running down. He’s going to have his pick of clubs.

“I think there will be several others, both in the Premier League and abroad, who may decide to come in for him.”

Should Arsenal try and sign Tielemans in January?

Without a doubt. As already mentioned, they are currently chasing the title, and Tielemans is the sort of player who would increase their chances of winning it.

He’s an experienced Premier League midfielder, making 135 appearances in the english top flight, and brings a lot to the middle of the park.

“Tactically, he is so strong. Technically, he can play fast because his vision is so good,” Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers told Sky Sports last year.

“As he has adapted to the Premier League and the speed of the game, you just see his football. It is sensational,” he later went on to add.

It is no wonder that the Foxes were willing to pay £35m (via Sky Sports) for him despite his struggles at former club AS Monaco, something Rodgers has also discussed.

He has come a long way since then and, ultimately, it is now not a surprise to see a football giant like Arsenal after his signature.
