West Ham United are ‘looking at’ bringing in ‘another forward’ in the upcoming winter transfer window, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Hammers handed manager David Moyes over £150 million to spend on new signings over the summer but further acquisitions could arrive in January.

What is the latest news involving West Ham?

West Ham finally replaced former striker Sebastien Haller with Gianluca Scamacca in the previous window, securing his services from Sassuolo in a deal worth £35.5m.

The Italy international has made a solid start to life at the London Stadium and has even replaced Michail Antonio in Moyes’ starting line-up in recent weeks thanks to his positive impact on the pitch.

However, West Ham are still marooned in the bottom-half of the Premier League table heading into the mid-season pause for this month’s World Cup in Qatar.

A move to bring in additional firepower in the final third of the pitch could be on the cards for the capital club, therefore, meaning David Gold and David Sullivan may be about to get the chequebook out once more.

What has Jones said about West Ham?

Jones has informed GiveMeSport that he has been ‘told’ another attacker is on Moyes’ wish list heading into January.

He said: “I was told that actually another forward is one of the things that West Ham are looking at in the January window, and I guess that’s a good sign for fans who think that Moyes isn’t attacking enough.

“But again, then you would have to question what’s going to change in terms of the dynamic he is getting out of the squad.”

Who could West Ham sign?

A recent report from Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) has stated that West Ham are one of a number of Premier League clubs who are interested in signing Boulaye Dia.

The 25-year-old joined Serie A side U.S. Salernitana on a season-long loan deal that includes the option to buy for £10.5m from Villarreal just a few months ago.

Nevertheless, Salernitana could be tempted to make a quick profit on Dia after making his stay permanent as his impressive form has clearly caught the eye of several potential suitors.

Dia has racked up eight goal contributions in 13 appearances throughout 2022/23 and could be a valuable addition to West Ham’s stuttering attack.
