Manchester United star Jadon Sancho is likely to have ‘some regret’ over his big-money move to Old Trafford after missing out on a spot in England’s World Cup squad, according to journalist Dean Jones.
The winger completed a £73million switch from Borussia Dortmund last year, but he failed to make the cut ahead of the Three Lions travelling to Qatar next week.

What’s the latest news involving Sancho?
Sancho was among the most high-profile absentees as England’s squad for the World Cup was announced on Thursday.
Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate selected the likes of Manchester United team-mate Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish, of arch-rivals Manchester City, ahead of the 22-year-old.
Erik ten Hag was appointed as the Red Devils’ chief following the conclusion of last season, but Sancho has struggled to make a major impact under the Dutchman.
He has failed to find the back of the net since grabbing the winner against Leicester City on September 1.
Sancho has not featured for Manchester United in recent weeks due to illness and he also missed the Carabao Cup third round victory over Aston Villa on Thursday.

What has Dean Jones said about Sancho?
Jones believes Southgate’s decision to snub Sancho ahead of the World Cup emphasises that the wide-man’s career has gone downhill.
The transfer insider feels the high-profile switch to Manchester United has not paid off and there will now be regrets over swapping Dortmund for Old Trafford.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It is crazy that we’re talking about a World Cup which Jadon Sancho, at this stage of his career, hasn’t even been considered for but that’s how it seems.
“There’s got to be some regret from his point of view that he has made a transfer like this.
“United fought to get him for so long. It was such a big deal and there was so much hype, but he has just kind of fallen off a cliff.”
Why has Sancho been left out of England’s squad?
Sancho headed to Manchester United having chalked up 114 goal contributions in 137 appearances for Dortmund, but he has been unable to rediscover his best form.
The £350,000-per-week star has only found the back of the net eight times and registered a further four assists in more than a year, which would have been a key reason for Southgate focusing on other options.
Sancho has been particularly disappointing this season, averaging just 0.4 shots on target per Premier League outing, and England will need more of a threat if they are to enjoy success in Qatar.
Although he has earned 23 caps, Sancho’s last international involvement came in October 2021, so his exclusion should not have come as a major surprise.
