Southampton are set to “firm up their interest” in Fiorentina goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are in the market for a new shotstopper with Fraser Forster expected to leave the club, and Taylor reckons the Poland international is a genuine option for Saints.
What’s the latest news involving Dragowski?
According to BBC Sport, Forster recently underwent a medical ahead of a proposed move to Spurs and he is set to link up with Antonio Conte’s side in the coming days.
As a result, Southampton need a replacement and have turned their attentions to Dragowski, with the Telegraph reporting that Saints are looking at a £10m deal for the 24 year-old goalkeeper.
The report states that sources at the Italian club may find it difficult to stop him from moving to the Premier League club, while Polish journalist Tomasz Wlodarczyk believes that he will sign for Saints.
Dragowski, who’s about to enter the final 12 months of his deal, lost his place in the side back in October and has played just four times in 2022.
Therefore, Taylor expects Southampton’s interest to increase over the coming weeks, although he said they face competition from newly-promoted Bournemouth.
What did Taylor say about Dragowski?
He told GIVEMESPORT: “Dragowski is a player that they will probably firm up their interest in. I’m in contact with his agent and he’s waiting for something to change.
“He’s been made aware of interest from Southampton and Bournemouth, but there’s nothing concrete at the moment, although with Forster moving on, expect Southampton to firm up their interest.”

Could Dragowski challenge for the number one spot?
Right now, it would appear that Dragowski would be arriving as Forster’s replacement and as nothing more than a backup to Alex McCarthy.
When fit, McCarthy has generally been Hasenhuttl’s first choice, so the Pole would therefore provide competition and cover for the ex-Palace ace, with the majority of his game-time likely to be in the cups.
Besides a brief period towards the end of the 2020-2021 season, Hasenhuttl generally doesn’t change his goalkeeper, although McCarthy didn’t exactly pull up trees when he did play, keeping just five clean sheets and conceding 27 goals in his 17 league outings last term.
Furthermore, Southampton tasted victory just three times in that period, so Dragowski could become an option if Saints’ poor record with McCarthy in the side continues.
