6 ft 4 colossus ‘would be interested’ in Emirates move

Arsenal target Evan Ndicka ‘would be interested’ in a move to the Emirates Stadium from Eintracht Frankfurt, according to journalist Robin Bairner.

Ndicka has entered the final 10 months of his contract with the reigning Europa League champions and has so far been unable to agree terms on a new deal.

What is the latest news involving Ndicka?

A report from German outlet BILD back in February first credited Arsenal with an interest in Ndicka, claiming Frankfurt were open to selling their prized asset for around £17.5 million.

However, the centre-back ended up staying put at the Deutsche Bank Park, although Il Romanista (via The Mirror) have stated that the Gunners are still eager to secure his services.

Arsenal are far from the only side who are monitoring Ndicka’s situation ahead of a possible move, with West Ham United, Paris Saint-Germain, Sevilla and AS Roma also listed amongst his potential suitors.

The Evening Standard have also backed up claims that Ndicka has emerged as a target for Mikel Arteta as he is supposedly keen to add another left-sided centre-back to his first-team squad.

Manchester United beat the Gunners to Lisandro Martinez’s signature in the previous transfer window, leaving Arteta short of options in that area of the pitch.

What has Bairner said about Ndicka?

Bairner has informed GiveMeSport that he believes a switch to Arsenal would be an ‘interesting prospect’ for Ndicka.

He said: “I think the position that Arsenal are in at the moment, everybody would be interested in going there because Mikel Arteta has them flying at the moment, and it looks like they’re going to be title contenders.

“So, if you’re moving from the Bundesliga, and you’re not at one of the very top Bundesliga clubs like Bayern or Borussia Dortmund, then the likes of Arsenal has to be an interesting prospect.”

Do Arsenal need Ndicka?

Gabriel is currently Arteta’s only natural left-sided central defender, and Ndicka could provide some quality cover and competition for the Brazilian.

“I honestly have to say that I was surprised by his development,” said former Frankfurt head coach Adi Hutter about the 6 foot 4 star.

Dennis Bergkamp - Arsenal

Which year did Dennis Bergkamp leave Arsenal?

“Evan has developed phenomenally. He’s very attentive in the analysis of his own game. He’s very modest and always takes a lot on board.”

Arsenal are beginning to look like genuine title contenders under Arteta, and Ndicka would only add to the capital club’s impressive options at the heart of defence.
