Manchester City Forward Shown Loan Interests From European Clubs

In a recent report, Sports Illustrated stated that Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez is attracting interest for another loan term prior to his debut for the Sky Blues in the pre-season tournament. He was bought in the January transfer window and then served a loan spell under his former team River Plate for the remainder of the season.

It has been mentioned that the Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille are interested to loan the Argentine forward ahead of the next season.

Alvarez’s Impressive Campaign At River Plate This Season

The youngster has had a solid campaign at River Plate scoring 32 goals and creating 6 assists over 39 appearances this season.

He has proven his worth and emerged as a deadly striker after averaging 3.1 shots, 2.1 key passes, and 2.1 dribbles, while contributing heavily in the defence with 1.0 tackles per 90 mins in the Liga Profesional. However, he remains decent in distributing possession completing 73.2% of his attempted passes in the Argentine top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Would Another Loan Spell Be Appropriate For The Manchester City Forward?

The Argentina international has proven to be an offensive threat as he can make a few decent runs behind the opposition and create some clear cut goal scoring chances in front of the goal. He deserves credit for setting up his teammates and chipping in for a few assists. The star forward is primarily a striker but can virtually play anywhere in the final third being extremely versatile on the pitch.

The Mancunian giants are heading into a crucial season with the UCL trophy in their sights along with defending the premier league title. With the addition of Erling Haaland to the squad, Alvarez might struggle to feature regularly. Pep Guardiola has made sure that the Norwegian striker would be the centre-piece of their attack and Alvarez’s growth may be stunted as he would mostly come off the bench.

Pep Guardiola should make use of the pre-season tournament as a chance to assess his skills and abilities before considering any offers. It would be wise for the City boss to loan him out ahead of the next season, keeping his development and growth in mind to further improve his standards.
