Edinson Cavani has been struggling with his ankle for the past couple of weeks.
The Uruguayan striker had to be substituted against Elche earlier this month after scoring two goals due to a discomfort in his ankle, as well as last night against Barcelona.
According to Marca, Cavani is set to be sidelined for next three weeks, which could see him theoretically return for the World Cup in Qatar.
This would most likely be the 35-year-old’s last opportunity to represent Uruguay on the biggest stage of international football and he would not want to miss the chance to make an appearance in the competition which he has played in every four years since 2010.
Cavani has scored four goals in his last three games for Valencia. Los Che, who are currently 10th in La Liga, will be hoping to climb up the table to reach the European spots in the league standings.
