Arsenal are admirers of Cody Gakpo and scouts from the Emirates Stadium will be ‘taking note’ of his performance when they lock horns with PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League on Thursday evening, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Gunners spent close to £120million during the summer transfer window, but further fresh faces could be drafted in by boss Mikel Arteta in January.

What’s the latest news involving Gakpo?
According to The Athletic, Arsenal are pushing to sign Gakpo at the turn of the year and they have boosted by PSV being open to offloading their talisman if a suitable offer is lodged.
The report suggests the the nine-cap Netherlands international has snubbed a potential move to Leeds United, despite the Elland Road outfit coming close to reaching an agreement with his current employers, while Real Madrid and Manchester United have also been linked.
Italian giants AC Milan are reportedly tracking Gakpo’s progress as well, although they are mindful of the fact his price tag could increase considerably by performing well at the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
While the winger has been prolific this season, racking up 13 goals and as many assists, he failed to take his chance to impress Arsenal at close quarters last week.
PSV were condemned to a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium, with Gakpo claiming a match rating of 6.2, but the two sides will meet in another Europa League group stage clash on Thursday.

What has Pete O’Rourke said about Gakpo?
O’Rourke is confident that Gakpo’s performance in north London will not have decreased the interest he has attracted from Arsenal and other clubs.
The journalist is looking forward to seeing whether the 23-year-old will cause Arteta’s side problems when they lock horns at the Philips Stadion.
O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “He has definitely showcased his talents throughout the season for PSV in the Eredivisie, as well as the Europa League.
“I don’t think his performance last week will have put anybody else off, but I’m sure there will be a lot of scouts taking note of him and watching him.
“They will be interested to see how he gets on against Arsenal in the return leg in the Netherlands.”
How much will Gakpo cost in January?
It is understood that PSV were seeking just over £38million when Gakpo was in-demand during the summer transfer window.
But there is every chance that the wide-man’s price tag will increase if he impresses at the World Cup, where the Netherlands will compete with hosts Qatar, Ecuador and Senegal in Group A.
With Leeds making Gakpo their top target ahead of the winter window – despite already being told he is not interested in heading to Yorkshire – Arsenal will have to be willing to splash the cash in order to get the deal done.
