Manchester City would risk ‘rocking the boat’ if they were to move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe in the future, according to journalist Dean Jones.
Pep Guardiola added highly coveted marksman Erling Haaland to his squad during the summer transfer window but could soon have the opportunity to bring in another world-class option.
What is the latest on Mbappe?
It is understood that the is eager to leave PSG after being left feeling betrayed by the Ligue 1 champions.
According to The Telegraph, PSG have no intention of selling their star man and would only consider offers of more than £300 million.
Man City are reportedly among the handful of clubs who would be able to afford the attacker if he were to leave in the near future.
However, following the club’s recent 1-0 win over Marseille, Mbappe – who has scored 183 goals for PSG – admitted that he ‘never asked to leave’ the Parc des Princes and was ‘very happy’ with his situation.
It is not the first time he has been linked with a move away from the French capital, however, as Real Madrid saw a bit of £137 million rejected for Mbappe in the summer of 2021, according to The Athletic.
However, the World Cup winner has since penned new terms with PSG, keeping him with the club until 2025
What has Jones said on a move to Man City?
Jones believes that signing Mbappe would risk upsetting the harmony Guardiola has created in the City dressing room.
He adds that it is hard to see the reigning Premier League champions adding him to their squad after signing Haaland last summer.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s hard to see and you risk rocking the boat at the club if you’re bringing in an ego, I guess, that has the potential to rock the boat.”

Do City need to sign Mbappe?
With the likes of Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish and Haaland at their disposal – no, City do not need Mbappe.
As Jones alluded to, Mbappe has attracted controversy and speculation over his behaviour while at PSG and that is something that could have a huge impact at the Etihad.
In Haaland, they have a focal point to their attack for years to come. City need to focus on building around the Norwegian rather than signing competition for him.
