Juventus could sell American midfielder Weston McKennie this winter window if his performances do not improve, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The USA international has been in poor form for a while, and the Bianconeri could let him go in January.
Massimiliano Allegri has used McKennie in different roles, but he is yet to nail down a spot in any of those positions.
McKennie has made 13 appearances for Juventus this season, scoring one goal and assisting one so far. The 24-year-old has played in central midfield, left-wing, and right-wing.
He has struggled across the board, and Juventus are considering showing him the exit door.
The reports claim that Juventus view McKennie as a semi-mysterious profile, and his dwindling importance to the first team will only worsen when Paul Pogba returns to full fitness.
If McKennie’s performances do not improve between now and the World Cup, Juventus will consider letting him go permanently. It is unclear if they will sanction a loan deal for the former FC Dallas youth star.
The Turin club paid around €20 million to sign McKennie from Schalke 04 after his one-year loan. They would love to recoup an amount around that figure.
Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund are interested in the pressing machine. Despite his struggles in Italy, top European clubs would like to take him.
Juventus are struggling this season. They sit in eighth after ten games and are on the brink of UEFA Champions League group stage elimination.
The results and performances have been poor, with many players failing to show the best versions of themselves. McKennie is one of those players.
However, the authorities at the Old Lady have refused to dismiss Allegri. They keep citing the enormous fee they will have to pay if they sack the Italian tactician despite his failed return.
They may pay a heavier price on the pitch.
