Gladbach were unhappy with a particular decision in their upset loss to Darmstadt in the second round of the DFB-Pokal.

Referee Robert Schröder did not give a penalty when Marcus Thuram was controversially pulled down in the 52nd minute. VAR was not available and Gladbach coach Daniel Farke commented:
“The referee apologized to us in the dressing room after the game. – When it comes to decisions, there is a slight tendency towards the underdog.”
Even Darmstadt’s trainer Torsten Lieberknecht admitted: “You can give a penalty there, definitely.”
Referring to Yann Sommer and Jonas Hofmann’s injuries, Farke added that, “I hope the boys aren’t out for too long.”
Sommer was subbed off in the 13th minute with an ankle injury, while there’s a chance Hofmann seriously injured his shoulder, which could leave his World Cup status in doubt.
