Chelsea learn Raphinha transfer price as Blues prepare to battle Barcelona for Leeds winger

Thomas Tuchel faces a huge summer ahead of him. The Chelsea manager is tasked with rebuilding his squad heading into next season after a number of key players left the club as free agents.

With the takeover of the Blues finally complete, the German coach can finally get to work putting those recruitment plans into place, with the transfer window opening on June 10th. Discussing his plans, Tuchel said: “We are rebuilding, not improving the squad. We are rebuilding. This is always challenging but we are up for the challenge.”

While the defence is likely to be a priority, due to the loss of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, the forward lines were also a concern last campaign. Chelsea saw plenty of points slip by due to their lack of a clinical edge, despite the return of Romelu Lukaku for over £100million.

As a result, the likes of Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner have been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge along with the Belgian. It would mean that an incoming or two could be required to bring that “X factor” to the squad in the forward lines.

One of the players that has been linked is Leeds United winger Raphinha. The 25-year-old managed to score 11 and assist three in the Premier League last season as a standout player for the relegation-threatened side.

The Blues aren’t the only ones who have been reportedly showing interest though, as the Brazilian has also been rumoured with a move to Barcelona. And according to the Athletic, either side could sign him this summer, but only if they bid between £60million and £70million.

While it is a large fee, it could be one that is far more attainable for Tuchel’s side as it is believed new owner Todd Boehly is prepared to invest £200million in the playing squad this summer. Add to that the financial difficulties for the Catalonian rivals and it may be the perfect storm for the Blues to swoop a deal.
