Oliver Glasner will have to do without two players he’s utilized as wingbacks this season after Luca Pellegrini and Ansgar Knauff remained in Frankfurt on Wednesday. Pellegrini didn’t make the trip to London because of a shoulder injury while Knauff has thigh issues. SGE trainer Oliver Glasner will thus have to improvise as he seeks to improve upon the goalless draw against Tottenham Hotspur last week and bounce back from a league loss this weekend.
A three-man back-li9ne anchored by veteran Makoto Hasebe is considered a set part of Glasner’s tactics in important matches. Kristijan Jakic, who did not play the second half against Bochum over the weekend, did travel to London and presumably can serve as the right wingback. Christopher Lenz counts as the most likely candidate to take over for Pellegrini on the left. Faride Alidou could also play in what was once Filip Kostic’s regular spot.
