Paulo Dybala has rejected an offer to join Newcastle United this summer.
Dybala will leave Juventus on a free transfer at the end of this month and has been strongly linked with Inter Milan.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 28-year-old has received a proposal from several clubs including Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund.
Newcastle have also reportedly made an offer, but Dybala wants to join a club who will be playing in the Champions League.
Speaking to ESPN (via Fabrizio Romano) ahead of Argentina’s 3-0 victory over Italy at Wembley Stadium last night, Dybala did not rule out leaving Serie A.
“On the future, I am quite calm – the people who work with me are taking care of it and I am focused on the matches of the national team,” he said.
“It’s (Serie A) a league I know – I’ve been there for ten years and it’s like I’m Italian.
“At the same time, I would like to know other leagues, such as the Premier League or La Liga which are difficult leagues. But yes, I’m fine in Italy.”
The Argentinian joined Juventus from Palermo in 2015 and netted 115 goals in 293 appearances for the Italian giants.
While Dybala would have one of Newcastle’s biggest Premier League signings, his rejection of their offer highlights the difficulties they face in attracting top players this summer.
The Magpies have ambitious plans following their Saudi-led takeover, but Dybala will not be part of the project.
However, they are closing in on the signing of striker Hugo Ekitike after Reims accepted an offer of more than £25 million.
The 19-year-old scored 10 times in 24 Ligue 1 appearances last season 2021-22 season, but a hamstring injury ruled him out from late February until early May.
The France Under-20 international was linked with Newcastle during the January transfer window, but he opted to remain with Reims.
