Real Madrid are close to reaching an agreement with AS Monaco for the transfer of Aurélien Tchouaméni.
After an initial offer of €80m including bonuses, Madrid came up with a second offer that was much closer to Monaco’s request of almost €100m, according to Foot Mercato.
Real Madrid have made a written offer of €80m plus €10m in bonuses and a sum corresponding to the tax on the capital gain made by Monaco on Tchouaméni’s transfer.
The Principality of Monaco is considered by Spain as a tax haven, and because of this special status, the Spanish tax authorities claim a 19% tax on any capital gain realised by the Ligue 1 club on the sale of a player in Spain.
This would exceed the €100m transfer fee including bonuses. Real Madrid are confident that the transfer will be completed.
Liverpool are out of the race and PSG look less likely to sign the 22-year-old.
