Anthony Modeste secured a point for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga’s Topspiel on Saturday evening. After much criticism, the Frenchman scored an equaliser against Bayern Munich in stoppage time to make it 2-2. Speaking after the game, the 34-year-old gave an insight on his performance.
“In the end I could have scored two goals,” said Modeste. “It can happen that you miss a shot on goal but in the end I scored the goal. Sometimes the simplest is the hardest. I make no secret of the fact that I complained during the week because we don’t cross that much.
“When the cross came, I was a bit surprised but I shouldn’t be. In the end I always believed in myself. I’m also happy for Mouki (Youssoufa Moukoko), he did a very good job. We’re a family. We don’t need to play sexy, we need to play effectively. I think the second goal was very important for us. We want to be champions, but we’re happy to take a point but BVB has to win games like this at home.”
