Modena accomplished a daring task as they knocked Sassuolo out of the second round of the 2022/23 Coppa Italia with a 3-2 victory over the Neroverdi.
In the aftermath of the game, Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi had to face insults from one of the Modena supporters. An embodiment of calmness on the field, Berardi couldn’t keep his cool upon hearing the slurs and consequently attacked the Modena fan. It took the brute force of a couple of security officers to take control of an enraged Berardi before he had done something violent. Otherwise, things could’ve gotten very ugly.

Now, it is confirmed via Golssip.it that the 26-year-old Italian has been sanctioned with a fine of €3,000 as the FIGC prosecutor, Giuseppe Chinè, ended the proceedings with a plea bargain between the player and the Modena fan.
According to what is reported, Berardi violated Article 4 paragraph 1 of the Sports Justice Code by attempting to attack the fan in front of the Stadio Alberto Braglia. The report also states that the amount of €3,000 will be donated to the Modena-based “Polivalente San Vito” association.
