Former Barcelona star Pedro Rodríguez has this week opened up on the details of a phone conversation between he and ex-Blaugrana teammate Xavi Hernández, during the latter’s time in the Camp Nou dugout.
For those who may have missed it, the name of attacker Pedro has taken its place front and centre at Barcelona’s facilities across the day to date.
A day on from the 39-year-old announcing his official retirement from the professional game, his former employers in Catalunya thanked Pedro for his service courtesy of a classy ceremony.
A whole host of Barca icons were present at the event, including the aforementioned Xavi.
And during a speech to the crowd in attendance, Pedro revealed that several years ago, he at one point touched base with his ex-teammate, to lightheartedly request a reunion at the Camp Nou:
“I scored 99 goals with Barça. When Xavi was coach, I called him and told him: ‘Take me back, and I’ll score a penalty even if it’s just to reach 100!’ He can corroborate it.”
