The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have earmarked a member of the defensive ranks at Portuguese outfit Sporting CP as a leading transfer target with a view to next season.
This comes amid the understanding that the Blaugrana have set their sights on the signature of Gonçalo Inácio.
Barcelona are widely expected to reinforce the heart of Hansi Flick’s defence in the summer, amid an ongoing search for a long-term replacement for Iñigo Martínez.
A shortlist of targets, in turn, has been drawn up by Deco and his staff.
And underlined in red, as alluded to above, is Sporting CP stalwart Gonçalo Inácio.
Gonçalo has for his part long been considered one of the standout defensive talents in his home country of Portugal, reflected by his 19 senior international caps to date.
And as per a report from Fichajes:
‘Gonçalo Inácio has become one of FC Barcelona’s top targets to strengthen their defence for next season. Deco believes the Sporting Lisbon defender has the ideal qualities to lead the Barcelona back line.’
