Here’s the reaction from the RB Leipzig camp following their draw with VfL Wolfsburg at the Red Bull Arena this evening.

A frustrating afternoon in front of goal culminating in a 2-2 draw overshadowed what Ole Werner described as “one of the best games we’ve played in recent weeks.” The Leipzig head coach cut a disappointed figure at full-time, insisting the result did not reflect his side’s dominance.
“The point doesn’t reflect the performance, it should have been three,” he said.
The Red Bulls registered 10 shots on target compared to Wolfsburg’s three, but found themselves thwarted by an inspired display from goalkeeper Kamil Grabara and some wasteful finishing of their own. Werner acknowledged the shortcomings in the final third.
“We weren’t precise enough in front of goal. We really should have been comfortably ahead before it became an open game. That’s what sets us apart from the teams at the top of the table.”
Brajan Gruda, who assisted the opener for Yan Diomande before rescuing a point with an 89th-minute equaliser, described the result as “bitter,” pointing to “two unnecessary goals” conceded.
The 21-year-old was particularly frustrated with the manner in which Wolfsburg regained the lead through Mattias Svanberg.
“I’m especially annoyed about the second one, as Wolfsburg had it far too easy. It’s good that we managed to equalise at 2-2, but our aim is to take all three points here.”
Full-back Max Finkgräfe, making his first start for the club, described Wolfsburg’s opener as “very unfortunate,” admitting that Adam Daghim had got past him “too easily” in the build-up.
Despite that setback, Finkgräfe reflected positively on his debut.
“It felt great to be on the pitch for RB Leipzig from the start for the first time. I really enjoyed being able to play. Those were very valuable minutes for me. I think overall I did well. I see my development positively.”
The draw means Leipzig missed the opportunity to leapfrog Stuttgart into fourth place and will now turn their attention to a tough away trip to Borussia Dortmund next Saturday.
