Marc Cucurella could face a spell on the sidelines after the Chelsea star missed the win over Hull City in the FA Cup with a hamstring injury
Chelsea face a nervous wait to discover the full extent of Marc Cucurella’s injury after the defender missed the win over Hull City. The left-back was not in the Blues squad that defeated Hull 4-0 in the FA Cup third round tie on Friday night due to a hamstring injury.
Liam Rosenior was asked about Cucurella’s fitness after the win at the MKM Stadium, with the Chelsea boss confirming that the left-back is injured but could not give a timeframe for a return.
“Yes, at the moment he’s [Cucurella] not fit,” Rosenior said on Friday night. “There’s an issue with his hamstring. I don’t know. I can’t give you a time frame on it at the moment.”
As a result, Chelsea are yet to discover how long Cucurella could be on the sidelines for, with several crucial fixtures on the horizon.

If Cucurella is sidelined for at least a week, the Spain international would miss Chelsea’s clash against Burnley in the Premier League on February 21.

The Blues will be hoping that Cucurella is not ruled out for two weeks, because that would see the defender unavailable for the clash against Arsenal on March 1.
The trip to the Emirates Stadium will be quickly followed by an away trip to Aston Villa a few days later on March 4, where it remains to be seen if Cucurella will be available.
Chelsea will then have a fifth-round clash in the FA Cup over the weekend of March 7/8, with their opponent to be confirmed after the draw on Monday night.
The Blues then have two more Premier League matches before the international break, with Newcastle (H – March 14) and Everton (A – March 21) their opponents and Chelsea will hope to have Cucurella back in their squad by this point.
Chelsea had several other players on the sidelines for their win over Hull in the FA Cup, with Dario Essugo, Levi Colwill, Jamie Gittens, Romeo Lavia and Filip Jorgensen all missing the trip to the MKM Stadium.
The next match on the agenda for the Blues is the clash against Burnley in the Premier League next weekend, and it remains to be seen if Cucurella, or any of the other injured players, will make a return for the fixture.
