Manuel Neuer had to come off at half-time for Jonas Urbig due to a minor calf problem during Bayern Munich’s 3-0 Bundesliga victory over Werder Bremen on Saturday.
Speaking after the match, FC Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund downplayed any concerns about a serious injury.
“He has a slight tightness. It was a precautionary measure. We didn’t want to take any risks, but it shouldn’t be anything serious,” Freund said.
He also praised Urbig’s performance, describing the young goalkeeper as “very good” after coming on.
“Just his body language, the way he takes part in the game, he’s so active. He’s simply really good. Whenever he comes on, whenever we need him, he’s there. He did very well again,” Freund added.
It’s unclear whether Neuer will be fit to start against Eintracht Frankfurt next week. If not, Urbig will be ready to step in once again.
