Although Bayer Leverkusen head coach Gerardo Seoane has received public backing from CEO Fernando Carro, it’s known that the Swiss tactician faces must win games against Porto, in the Champions League, and Schalke, in the Bundesliga if he is to keep his job. Speaking on Sport1’s ‘Doppelpass‘, Carro said that B04 aren’t “unprepared” when it comes to planning for a potential successor.
As reported by Sport1’s Patrick Berger, Bayer Leverkusen contacted former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, who is on the market after being dismissed in September. Regardless of whether B04 could afford Tuchel’s salary or not, the 49-year-old has waived interest and isn’t interested in coaching Die Werkself.
After eight Bundesliga games, Bayer Leverkusen occupy 17th and have just one league win this season. Upon returning to the Champions League, they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Club Brugge on the opening matchday but did beat Atlético Madrid 2-0 on MD2. On Tuesday, Leverkusen play Porto in what feels like a make or break game.
