Igor Thiago has committed his long-term future to Brentford after signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2031.
The West London side confirmed on Friday that the deal also includes an option to extend by a further year.
It is a significant statement from Brentford, who have watched Thiago develop into one of the Premier League’s most reliable scorers during a breakout 2025-26 campaign.
The 24-year-old has struck 17 league goals this season, a return bettered only by Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
Thiago’s form has been central to Brentford’s push for Europe, with Keith Andrews’ side sitting seventh and still firmly in the hunt for what would be the first continental qualification in their history.
The Brazilian officially joined Brentford from Club Brugge in July 2024 after agreeing a move earlier that year, arriving for a fee that was reported as a club record at the time.
He initially signed a five-year contract, but his first season in England never truly got going.
A meniscus injury in pre-season disrupted his momentum and he was restricted to just eight Premier League appearances in the 2024-25 campaign without scoring.
This season has been a completely different story.
Thiago has settled quickly into Brentford’s system, leading the line with a mix of power, movement and sharp finishing that has made him one of the division’s most difficult forwards to contain.
His goals have also come in bursts, including several braces in key home wins, and he has already written himself into the club’s recent record books.

Andrews praised Thiago’s character as well as his importance to Brentford’s style, insisting the striker has earned the new terms.
“The connection that he has with his team-mates, the staff and the fans is pretty evident for everybody to see,” Andrews said.
“He’s been a massive player for us, so it’s a contract he thoroughly deserves.”
The new deal is also a reminder of Brentford’s ability to protect their best assets at a time when Thiago’s scoring record would inevitably have attracted interest elsewhere.
For Thiago, it is a reward for a career path that has been far from straightforward.
After limited success early on in Brazil, he rebuilt his reputation in Europe with Ludogorets before impressing at Club Brugge and earning his move to the Premier League.
Now thriving in West London, Thiago’s next target could be international recognition, with his scoring form putting him in contention for a first Brazil call-up.
