Update Emerges on His WWE Future After Super Bowl

Just hours before he performs in front of hundreds of millions of people at the Super Bowl LX half-time show, an update has emerged on the Grammy winner’s future in WWE.

The 31-year-old Puerto Rican rapper, who is credited with having helped Spanish-language rap music achieve mainstream popularity, has made headlines in recent weeks for his stance against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during a speech at the Grammys. His presence at Sunday’s Super Bowl has been cited as a reason why President Donald Trump won’t attend the game.

However, away from his music career (and political statements) Bad Bunny has enjoyed a high-profile relationship with WWE, and has stepped into the ring on several occasions.

Bad Bunny’s History in WWE Explored

He most recently featured in a Street Fight with Damian Priest at Backlash 2023 in his home country. Bad Bunny took the victory, and was praised for his in-ring ability during the 25-minute match.

Bad Bunny (real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) had previously shown his potential in other high-profile bouts. His WWE ring debut came when he teamed with Priest to defeat The Miz and John Morrison at WrestleMania 37 in 2021. The global sensation was also an entrant in the 2022 Royal Rumble match, where his brief cameo was ended by eventual winner, Brock Lesnar.

Unlike many celebrity participants, WWE has portrayed Bunny as a serious competitor during his appearances. With his star power now at an all-time high heading into the Superbowl, it seems as though his return to professional wrestling may not be too far away.

Reacting to the suggestion that Bad Bunny could join rival group All Elite Wrestling, F4W Online’s Bryan Alvarez clarified that the Latin megastar was expected to return to WWE “sooner rather than later.”

When Bad Bunny is Expected to Return to WWE

Bad Bunny’s current world tour, “Debí Tirar Más Fotos”, has a significant break from March 2nd through to the end of May, which is notable as it provides an extended window where the star could return to WWE in the build-up to the company’s biggest show of the year, WrestleMania 42, which will take place on the 18th and 19th of April at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

No creative plans have yet been reported for Bad Bunny, but if the gap in his touring schedule is WWE-related, as Alvarez hinted, then it is likely that he will have a match on the WrestleMania card.

WWE’s flagship show has a rich history of celebrity involvement. Given his starring role at half-time in the Super Bowl, few names are bigger at present than that of Bad Bunny.
