Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior cut a frustrated figure before the Blues’ Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg against Arsenal as he issued a four-word blast
Liam Rosenior was involved in a furious altercation before Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg tie against Arsenal. The Blues boss appeared displeased with something that happened in the warm up at the Emirates Stadium.
Rosenior, 41, gestured at a member of his coaching staff before throwing his arms up in the air in the direction of the Arsenal players.
According to Sky Sports, Rosenior was annoyed by the Arsenal players venturing into his half while warming up. It’s claimed that he could be heard shouting “stay in your half” to his opposition.
Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp said: “You can see it there, he’s telling him to stay in their half. I don’t quite obviously know, I haven’t seen it. It’s like someone’s kicked a ball in his area.”
Rosenior cut an animated figure pre-match and looked fired up as his Chelsea side went into the game aiming to claw back a one-goal deficit after trailing 3-2 from the first leg at Stamford Bridge.
And the Blues made a bright start in north London, pressing from the front and creating some opportunities. Liam Delap fired wide in the eight minute after William Saliba didn’t deal a cross, before Trevoh Chalobah was gifted a chance from a corner but couldn’t direct a shot on target.
At the other end, Piero Hincapie tested Robert Sanchez’s gloves with a rasping long-range strike, while Gabriel Martinelli went through on goal but his effort was well blocked by Malo Gusto. Viktor Gyokeres, who had just one touch in the opening 30 minutes, then tried his luck but Chelsea were there again to block his shot.

Rosenior has made an impressive start to life at Chelsea since replacing Enzo Maresca at the start of January. Indeed, heading into Tuesday’s trip to Arsenal, he had won five of his six matches across all competitions.
The only game Rosenior has lost is against the Gunners in the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg. They have beaten Charlton Athletic, Brentford, Pafos, Crystal Palace, Napoli and West Ham.
It’s a run of form that has seen them finish in the top eight of the league phase in the Champions League and move up to fifth in the Premier League, just seven points behind second-place Manchester City.
If Chelsea manage to overcome the one-goal deficit and beat Arsenal, they would face either Manchester City or Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, March 22.
