Jean-Philippe Mateta (28) is nearing a switch to Nottingham Forest, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Mateta, who earlier this season became a France international, has been keen on departing Selhurst Park this month. It comes amid a period of turbulence at the London club. Oliver Glasner will leave at the end of the season, whilst club captain Marc Guéhi recently left to join Manchester City.
Mateta now looks set to be a part of that mass exodus. The striker has already said yes to a move to Nottingham Forest, who are currently in danger of relegation to the EFL Championship. And Foot Mercato now understands that an agreement between the two clubs is now drawing nearer and has been described as “very close” by the publication.
This season, the Frenchman has scored 10 goals in 34 matches in all competitions. Eight of those goals have come in the Premier League.
