Sky Germany reports that Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka is a target for LaLiga side Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish side is stepping up their pursuit of the midfielder to try and complete a deal in this window as they look for a replacement for Connor Gallagher, who joined Tottenham earlier in January.
Atleti have already made an offer to the 30-year-old, who is considering a move to Spain and is expected to make a decision by the end of the week.
If Goretzka decides not to move to the Spanish capital in this window, then he will likely leave Bayern in the summer on a free transfer when his contract expires.
Could Goretzka swap Bayern for England?
The 30-year-old has also been linked with a move to Tottenham in this window; however, since they have signed Gallagher, there may be little need for Goretzka.
Speaking to Die Zeit, the German international revealed that he is open to a move to England:
“There are many people who think that my style of football would be a great fit for England. But I have time. I’ll listen to everything and consider it carefully. I’m looking forward to the talks that will take place.”
